How to make a Diaper Cake

During the weeks prior to my sisters baby shower, I literally spent days surfing the internet trying to find instructions on how to make a diaper cake.  I got so bogged up on the information that I read, that I became discouraged after the third day of reading the free information on diaper cake instructions.  Besides that fact that it was free, the diaper cake instructions were absolutely hard to understand.  They assumed that you already knew the little hidden secrets on how to make diaper cakes.  

After spending countless hours trying to create a diaper cake and promising myself that I wouldn’t buy one, due to the fact that it would cost me well over $100, I finally decided to check the internet one last time. 

Finally, after spending a couple of hours on the internet, I came across a “really cheap” step by step video tutorial that was very easy to understand! This video taught me all the little secrets on how to make a diaper cake

Many people think that making a diaper cake is a hard task, but with a good set of instructions it’s not difficult at all. Making a Diaper cake is extremely fun, and most of all, your beautiful creation will be the buzz of the baby shower.

So I have written a “how to make a diaper cake” instructional guide below. However, though my experiences in making diaper cakes, I found that it is much easier and quicker to watch this simple step by step video tutorial on “How to make a Diaper Cake”

How to make a Diaper Cake Instruction:

So are you ready to start baking?

Ingredients needed:

-          50-80 cloth or disposable diapers (number of diapers depends on how many tiers you want)

-          A bag of rubber bands (various sizes)

-          16” Disposable cardboard platter. (found in party stores)

-          At least 8 feet of 1’ wide ribbon ( need more if cake is more than 3 tiers)

-          Clear adhesive tape

-          Decorating items ( pacifiers, bibs, toys , socks, etc.)

-          Decorative cake topper (stuffed animal or bottle filled with candy)

Baking your Cake:

-          Roll diapers with tabs tucked in

-          Wrap rubber bands around each diaper roll.

-          Use rubber bands to create a bundle with the diapers (may need inner & outer bundle for larger tiers)

-          Use ribbon or receiving blanket around the cake to cover rubber bands

-          Use the clear adhesive tape to attach the tiers to the platter

-          Now use the decorations you bought to tuck around the cake
